Losing Quality Sleep Due to Pain
Pain causes a lot of suffering to many. For some, they even lose sleep over it and this can be extremely agonizing. Let us discuss about this a little deeper below.
Warning signs
Pain is the body's warning system, like an SOS signal. It tells us that the something is wrong. Every part of our body has pain receptors. For example, if the hand is pressed by a heavy object, the body sends nerve impulses to the receptors at the spinal cord. It then sends nerve impulses to the brain to tell us that the pain in the hand is not natural.
Insomnia
The injury to the body gets transmitted through the receptor constantly and this can cause insomnia. The pain acts as a waring and tells the body to make corrections so as not to spread the injury further. Some examples of causes of pain are as follows:
-
Sitting at work for a long time in front of the computer which can lead to pain in the neck and shoulders
-
Thinking too much or superhot weather at times causes headache
-
Tendon pain and visceral pain caused by injury
-
Spinal pain or chronic lumbar pain and more
Other common factors that may contribute to insomnia are as follows:
-
Drinking tea and coffee in the evening before going to bed.
-
Exercise at night. Which keeps the body awake
-
Excessive exposure to online media causes the brain to work overtime
How does it affect the body?
For most of us, it is common practice to be up during the day and sleep at night. If sleep is affected, it can create a chain of negative effects to the body. For example, disturbance to the brain function can be a danger especially those who have to work with machines or operate vehicles.
The degree of insomnia depends on how much pain one is experiencing.

In the case of office syndrome, some may choose to use a compression techniques, massage or physical therapy to help relieve symptoms. For cramps, one can also take magnesium or calcium zinc as a form of supplement for the body.
